Fountain Gate Physiotherapy Clinical Pilates

Clinical Pilates

Clinical Pilates is a form of exercise focused on improving posture, core stability, endurance, and muscle control. The exercises work on improving background muscle activity that in turn facilitates smoother more efficient movement and overall enhances performance and reduces pain.

At Fountain Gate Physiotherapy, Clinical Pilates sessions are conducted by a physiotherapist and differ from general gym or studio pilates. Since the sessions are conducted by a physiotherapist the cost may be rebateable through your private health insurance cover.

Who is it for?

Clinical Pilates is suitable for all age groups, fitness levels and gender. Regardless of your current physical condition or fitness goals a program can be formulated to your needs by the physiotherapist.

What does it involve?

At Fountain Gate Physiotherapy a Pilates reformer can be used for one-on-one sessions and is used during all group sessions. A Pilates reformer allows a variety of exercises and different levels of resistance making it ideal for both beginners and advanced users.

An initial one-on-one Clinical Pilates session with the physiotherapist lasts for 45 minutes and enables an exercise program to be formulated to your needs. Further one-on-one sessions last for 30 minutes and allow re-assessment and progression of your program.

To join a group session you are required to attend an initial consultation with the physiotherapist for assessment. We recommend a further 3-4 individual sessions prior to beginning a group class to ensure safe and correct performance of basic exercises.

At the completion of a 8 week group program a 20 minute reassessment is required with the physiotherapist prior to beginning a new block of classes.
