Areas of Speciality

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Musculoskeletal physiotherapists have skills in the identification and management of musculoskeletal (muscle and joint) injuries.

Musculoskeletal physiotherapists are trained to employ a wide variety of assessment tools to accurately diagnose your injury. Musculoskeletal physiotherapists are equipped with a broader range of treatment tools than other health professionals to get you pain free.

Sport Physiotherapy

The physiotherapists of Fountain Gate Physiotherapy are able to correctly diagnose your sport injury as well as areas that may require strengthening to prevent a relapse.

During your rehabilitation you may be provided with a series of strengthening and stretching exercises as well as a goal oriented progression to return to sport.

Manipulative Physiotherapy

Manipulative physiotherapy is the expert assessment, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. Treatment incorporates soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation or manipulation techniques, as well as exercise and advice.

Manipulative Physiotherapy can benefit you by:

- reducing pain
- improving strength and flexibility
- self-management strategies
- quicker return to sport/activity

Occupational Physiotherapy

All therapists at Fountain Gate Physiotherapy are certified TAC and Worksafe Occupational Physiotherapists. Occupational physiotherapists are physiotherapists with specific skills and experience in returning a client to work earlier.

Clients can access occupational physiotherapy services for a transport accident injury without seeking prior approval from the TAC and without receiving a referral from a medical practitioner. If you have a claim number, contact us for an appointment.

Occupational Physiotherapy is not subject to the medical excess so there is no fee required to be paid by eligible clients.

Paediatric Physiotherapy

Paediatric physiotherapy focuses on the physical function and development of children. We are concerned with the movement, co-ordination and posture of children.
A wide range of paediatric conditions can benefit from physiotherapy input including:

- Childhood Growing Pains
- Cerebal palsy
- delayed development
- muscular dystrophy
- spina bifida
- brachial plexus lesions
- heel pain (Sever's disease)
- knee pain (Osgood-Schlatters disease)
- fractures/dislocations
- Scheuermann's lesion

Paediatric physiotherapy aims to minimise the effects of physical impairment and optimise participation. We encourage child and family member involvement in the goal setting process to best benefit the child. An appropriate exercise programme is designed to be enjoyable for the child and also to encourage parents and siblings participation.

Fountain Gate Physiotherapy has a fully equipped rehabilitation gym for post operative recovery and injury rehabilitation. All physiotherapists have had extensive training in functional based rehabilitation for the management of chronic pain.

Chest Physiotherapy

The Physiotherapists at Fountain Gate Physiotherapy can assist in removing excess phlegm or secretions from the lungs. A selection of chest percussions, vibrations, positioning and breathing exercises can be used to loosen the secretions from the lung.

Dry Needling

Dry needling has been found to be effective in the management of myofascial pain. Myofascial pain is a common form of muscle pain that is associated with trigger points. A number of studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of dry needling in reducing the sensitivity of trigger points and reducing someone's pain.
